Thanks to a generous grant from PREO, we’re embarking on an exciting new project to bring clean energy to 600 communities across Ethiopia. This initiative will provide 600 productive-use solar systems, each equipped with refurbished lithium-ion batteries, to power a brighter future for rural businesses and households.
What We’re Building:
Our focus is on providing practical, impactful solutions. These solar systems, available in 1 kW and 1.5 kW capacities, are designed to power a range of essential applications:
- Irrigation Systems: Helping farmers grow more crops and increase their yields.
- Cold Storage Units: Preserving perishable goods, reducing food waste, and increasing farmers’ incomes.
- Rural Businesses: Powering small businesses like workshops, shops, and community centers.
By utilizing refurbished lithium-ion batteries, we’re not only making these systems more affordable but also minimizing our environmental impact.
Why This Matters:
This project has the potential to transform lives and communities:
- Boosting Rural Economies: By powering productive activities, these solar systems will create new economic opportunities for rural communities, leading to increased incomes and improved livelihoods.
- Expanding Access to Clean Energy: Access to reliable and affordable energy is crucial for development. This project will bring clean energy to areas that have traditionally lacked access to electricity.
- Promoting a Sustainable Future: By reusing batteries, we’re demonstrating the value of the circular economy and minimizing our environmental footprint.
We believe that this project will not only bring light and power to rural communities but also serve as a model for sustainable development across Ethiopia.
