We are thrilled to share that our project, “Refurbishing Solar Systems,” has been awarded a Special Commendation at the 9th UNECE International PPP Forum 2025 in Belgrade, Serbia. This recognition, granted by an independent jury of the UNECE PPP and Infrastructure Awards, highlights our commitment to environmental sustainability, resilience, and stakeholder engagement.
Our project focuses on transforming end-of-life solar home systems and lithium-ion batteries into affordable, clean energy solutions for rural, off-grid communities in Ethiopia. By giving these products a second life, we reduce electronic waste, cut CO₂ emissions, and ensure that clean energy is accessible to those who need it most.
A Model for Sustainability and Impact
- Over 3,000 solar home systems refurbished and reintroduced.
- 19 tons of e-waste collected and transformed into valuable products.
- Direct contribution to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
